Intermission: In Harmony with the Scents of Taos, Nostalgie by Sonoma Scent Studios

IMG_2099

For my trip to Taos I brought along three scent options: Rose Etoile de Hollande by Mona di Orio, a soft, salty rose that I associate with lanquid sunny days at Sandy Hook, my Iris 39 Body Massage Oil, for it’s calm, earthy goodness, and a new love from Sonoma Scent Studio, Nostalgie.

Nostalgie is described as a scent created in the vintage tradition, with a soft aldehyde presence, light handed  florals of violet, rose and jasmine, and soothing notes of oakmoss, amber and sandalwood in the drydown. As a lover of Chanel no. 19, and a woman with great appreciation for perfumes I found on my mother’s vanity, I instantly fell in love with Nostalgie. This scent is one with a universal appeal and perfect for you if you find that vintage legends enchant you, but carry to much weight for your daily life. When I was in Taos, at an elevation of 7000 feet in the pure mountain air, the natural beauty of Nostalgie kept harmony with the aromas of pinon wood burning in the fireplace, the sharpness of juniper, cedar and other evergreens, and the bright, clean frosted air that filled my lungs each morning.

Heartfelt thanks to basenotes buddy, MatildaBen, for turning me on to Nostalgie – she knows my nose! I will be ordering a full bottle of this and am eager to sample more from this artisan perfume house. For some excellent reviews of Nostalgie see Olfactoria’s Travels  , Perfume Shrine, and Muse in the Woods.
