Intermission: Mom’s Vintage Hats #4
This turban style hat of Mom’s is quite luscious. Crafted of peach colored satin material, it has a delicious, sensuous appeal.
It has these gorgeous ripply bands of satin that look like waves. The rim on the back of the hat meets in a v shape at the nape of the neck. I think. Is this meant to be worn at a tilt? Or sitting atop the head in a flat manner? I am unsure. I just like to look at it. It has an almost edible or lickable quality, from the top, it could be a smoothly frosted pastry or the tier of a wedding cake, which gives new meaning to the expression, “I’ll eat my hat!”
This hat is Union made in the USA, by Valerie Modes. The interior is lined with a matching netting in a soft peach color. Lovely for a garden party or perhaps a wedding. Where would you wear a hat like this? Better still, which perfume would you wear with this? I’m thinking Fracas by Robert Piguet. Or Attrape Couer by Guerlain.
